These positions provide an immersive opportunity to work within the heart of the EU’s diplomatic mission in Egypt and contribute to its diverse workstreams.
About the Opportunity
The EU Delegation to Egypt plays a crucial role in strengthening EU-Egypt relations, implementing cooperation initiatives, promoting EU values, and maintaining a dialogue on political, economic, social, and environmental matters. These traineeships offer young professionals practical experience in diplomacy, cooperation, and policy analysis.
Traineeship Opportunities by Section
Traineeships are available within the following sections:
1. Political, Press and Information Section (PPI)
This section focuses on monitoring political developments, managing relations with government and civil society, media relations, and strategic communication.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct research related to PPI tasks.

Support meeting logistics and preparation.

Assist with communication campaigns and media monitoring.
-
Help manage the delegation’s website and social media platforms.
-
Draft press statements and meeting minutes.
2. Trade Section (TRADE)
The Trade Section oversees EU-Egypt trade relations, promoting fair and transparent practices and supporting EU businesses.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct research on trade and economic topics.

Track investment and trade policy developments.
-
Compile press reviews and data for economic reports.
-
Assist in organizing trade-related meetings and events.
-
Attend and report on conferences and policy discussions.
3. Cooperation Section (COOP)
The Cooperation Section manages EU development programmes in key sectors including governance, climate, education, and social inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:

Support gender mainstreaming documentation under the EU Gender Action Plan.

Assist in convening development partner coordination groups.
-
Help execute communication activities linked to key international observances.

Assist in organizing events and writing project concept notes.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
-
Be currently residing in Egypt due to local conditions.
-
Hold a university degree (graduates only).
-
Show interest and preferably knowledge of Egyptian politics or relevant thematic areas.
-
Exhibit excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
-
Possess fluency in English and Arabic.
-
Be available for the full duration of the internship (up to 6 months).

Be eligible under Article 8 of Decision ADMIN(2017)28 regarding paid traineeships.
Please note: Each candidate may apply for only one section, although the Delegation reserves the right to assign candidates based on profile suitability.
Benefits
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. However, costs related to travel, visas, insurance, and accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
