About the Scholarship

AMIU is a Pan-African university committed to addressing the continent’s health workforce gaps by training the next generation of public health professionals. The L4L scholarship is designed to support candidates who aspire to make a meaningful impact in the health sector.

Successful applicants will join a cohort of networked, highly skilled professionals with improved employability and potential for job creation within and beyond the health sector.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Meet the admission requirements for the chosen postgraduate programme at AMIU (see admissions portal)

• Be available for the May 2025 intake

• Be a citizen and resident of Kenya or Zambia

• Be 35 years or younger at the time of application

  • Special consideration may be given to applicants slightly above 35 years who are:

    • Women

    • Displaced persons (refugees or internally displaced persons)

    • Persons with disabilities

    • Unemployed or socio-economically disadvantaged individuals

Application Process

Step 1: Apply for admission to the relevant postgraduate programme via https://admissions.amref.ac.ke
Step 2: Complete the online scholarship application and upload all required documents at https://ee.datacollection.amref.org/x/oAwcIuSo

Required Documents:

1. Cover Letter (maximum 500 words) detailing your motivation

2. Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts (university and high school)

3. A 1,000-word proposed research concept aligned with your field of interest

4. Two reference letters (academic or professional)

5. Copy of passport or national ID

6. Passport-size photograph (2cm x 2cm in jpg, png, or tiff format)

7. Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)

8. Proof of socio-economic disadvantage (e.g., letter from a community administrator)

9. Refugee identification (if applicable)

10. Disability registration document (if applicable)

11. Letter from a government authority indicating reason and nature of displacement (if applicable)

Application Guidelines

• Prepare all documents in advance.

• Save all documents as PDFs, except for the photo, which must be in JPG, PNG, or TIFF.
