Call for Proposals: United Nations Youth Delegate Programme – Italy 2025/2026

The Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI–UNA Italy), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), announces the 2025/2026 edition of the United Nations Youth Delegate Programme – Italy (UNYDP Italy).

This programme aims to select one young woman and one young man to serve as official Italian UN Youth Delegates from September 2025 to September 2026.

What is UNYDP?

The United Nations Youth Delegate Programme is an initiative designed to engage young people in international diplomacy and the work of the United Nations. Youth Delegates help promote the 2030 Agenda and represent the voice of Italian youth in national and international forums.

Application Process

Deadline: Thursday, 24 April 2025 at 18:00 CET

Required Documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English (mandatory)

  • Language certificates (optional)

  • Other experience certifications relevant to the requirements (optional)

  • A video in English (mandatory), with a fixed duration of 120 seconds, presenting the candidate’s profile and how they intend to promote youth engagement with the 2030 Agenda

Submission Method: Complete the application form in English (available on the SIOI website) and send all required documents by email to: application@sioi.org

Only complete applications received within the deadline will be considered. Applications are processed in the order they are received.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be between 20 and 27 years old at the time of application

  • Hold Italian citizenship and enjoy civil and political rights

  • Be currently enrolled in or have completed a university course of study

  • Be proficient in Italian and English, both spoken and written

  • Be knowledgeable in digital communication and active on social media

  • Demonstrate a passion for civic engagement, youth policy, and the United Nations

Preferential Criteria

In the case of equal merit, preference will be given to candidates who have:

  • Participated in SIOI or MSOI training and activities

  • Volunteered with youth organizations or associations

  • Completed internships or volunteer work with NGOs, UN bodies, or Italian diplomatic missions

  • Gained international experience, such as volunteering abroad or taking part in exchange programs

  • Proficiency in other widely spoken languages

  • Skills in using digital graphic and communication tools

Selection Process

First Round Interviews: Mid-May 2025 (conducted online)
Final Selection Announcement: By 10 June 2025

Candidates will be evaluated based on their knowledge of:

  • The United Nations system and its key activities

  • International law and current international affairs

  • Italy’s foreign policy

  • The structure and work of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

The selection process includes:

  • An initial interview (online)

  • A final interview for shortlisted candidates

  • Evaluation of public speaking skills, teamwork, communication abilities, and digital proficiency

Shortlisted candidates will also be assessed on their fluency in Italian and English.

Duties of the Youth Delegates

Selected Youth Delegates will:

  • Participate in the 80th United Nations General Assembly and related activities, according to a programme designed by SIOI in coordination with MAECI and the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations

  • Organize and take part in events, meetings, and consultations in Italy and internationally

  • Promote youth engagement and contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Training Requirements:
Winners will participate in a mandatory training period between June and July 2025. This may include shadowing the current Youth Delegates and attending workshops organized by SIOI. Training may be in-person or conducted online.

All costs related to programme activities will be covered by SIOI through a dedicated budget.
