Newnham College is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for early-career female researchers from the Global South to apply for the Margaret Anstee Research Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship is designed to support outstanding scholars whose work focuses on economic and social development and/or international relations in the Global South.

About the Fellowship

The successful candidate will be based at the Margaret Anstee Centre, a hub for research and engagement dedicated to the legacy of Dame Margaret Anstee, the first woman Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and a distinguished alumna of Newnham College.

Research Focus

The Margaret Anstee Centre is committed to advancing inclusive social and economic change worldwide. Its research focuses on trends in international development and hosts initiatives such as the Archives of the Disappeared, which addresses the challenges of documenting communities, social movements, and cultures affected by violence.

The Centre is particularly interested in applicants engaged in translational research—work that bridges academic inquiry and real-world impact. Fellows will receive support from the Knowledge Exchange Co-ordinator to amplify the reach and influence of their research.

Eligibility

Applications are open to outstanding female candidates who have completed and been awarded their doctoral degrees. The fellowship is an excellent opportunity for early-career researchers to advance their academic careers while contributing to meaningful global change.
