The European Union Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) offers a traineeship programme for highly motivated university graduates. This opportunity allows trainees to gain first-hand experience in EU operations while applying their academic knowledge in a professional setting.

About the Programme

The ACER Traineeship Programme provides graduates with an opportunity to:

  • Gain technical and operational experience at ACER.
  • Work in a multinational and intellectually stimulating environment.
  • Contribute to EU energy regulation and policy development.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be a university graduate (minimum 3-year degree).
  • Be a citizen of an EU Member State, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Ukraine.
  • Have very good knowledge of at least two EU languages, one of which must be English.

Duration

  • Minimum 3 months, up to 6 months.
  • Can be extended once, for a total of 1 year.

Traineeship Grant

Trainees not receiving a salary, scholarship or other form of financial support are provided with a monthly grant.

  • As of 1st January 2024, the Traineeship grant amounts to 1,265.36 EUR.
  • Trainees can also be awarded some extra contributions:
    • Travel expenses (beginning and end of traineeship): Trainees who have completed at least a 3-month traineeship period might be entitled to the reimbursement of their travel expenses.
    • Public transportation: All trainees are granted a monthly pass for public transport within Ljubljana.

  1. Check the open call for traineeships.
  2. Fill in the Traineeship Application ​Form​, attach a copy of your diploma
  3. Send it to Traineeship@acer.europa.eu
  4. Read carefully the Rules before submitting the application

 

Selection Process

  • Eligible candidates are added to a shortlist based on ACER’s current needs.
  • The HR team may contact applicants to verify suitability and expectations.
  • Final selection is made by the ACER Director.
  • All candidates are informed of the outcome.
