This self-paced, 20-hour online course is designed for first-line professionals in Turkmenistan working with youth and women. It provides practical knowledge and competencies to deliver community-based MHPSS as a preventive measure.
Aim of the Online MHPSS Course
The course aims to build the capacity of frontline service providers to deliver community-based mental health and psychosocial support to vulnerable youth and women as a preventive measure. Participants will:
- Understand the mental health continuum and mental health disorders, considering factors that impact mental health across the lifespan.
- Recognize the role of supporting individual mental health and well-being in preventing conflicts, fostering social cohesion, and strengthening community resilience.
- Learn about the MHPSS intervention pyramid, and how to align mental health services with the needs of vulnerable populations, prioritizing youth-at-risk and women at the community level.
- Identify signs of stress, trauma, and other mental health conditions in individuals.
- Provide basic mental health and psychosocial support.
- Understand the importance of making referrals to specialized mental health and other relevant services.
- Learn evidence-based self-help tools to maintain one’s own mental health.
