The European Union (EU) is excited to announce the Call for Proposals: EU-Ghana Youth Empowerment Programme, with a total budget of €2,610,000. This initiative seeks to empower young people in Ghana to actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through capacity building, financial support, and targeted programmes for social entrepreneurs and change-makers.
Programme Objectives
The EU-Ghana Youth Empowerment Programme is designed to:
- Strengthen Youth-Led Civil Society Organisations (CSOs):
Build the capacity of youth-focused and youth-led CSOs, enhancing skills in management, communication, fundraising, coordination, networking, financial accountability, policy dialogue, and advocacy.
- Provide Financial Support to Youth Initiatives:
Enable youth organisations to implement impactful projects that contribute to sustainable development and drive positive change within their communities.
- Support Social Entrepreneurs and Change-Makers:
Develop comprehensive programmes, including youth incubators, to equip young leaders and entrepreneurs with the skills and resources necessary to transform their ideas into actionable initiatives.
At least 35% of the programme budget must be allocated to financial support for third parties.
Priority Sectors
Proposals are especially encouraged for initiatives focused on:
- Environmental protection
- Culture and creative industries
- Peace and security
- Gender empowerment
Eligibility Requirements
- The action must be implemented by a consortium of organisations with the capacity to execute the entire programme cohesively, including acting as a fund manager for third-party financial support.
- The lead applicant must involve at least one Ghanaian youth organisation (operating at either national or local level) as a co-applicant.
