Enrol in the “Becoming a Climate Champion” e-course to develop key skills that will help you drive climate change initiatives in your community and beyond. This self-paced course, developed by UN CC:Learn and UN Climate Change’s Youth4Capacity, covers five crucial areas: leadership, project management, resource mobilization, inclusivity (leave no one behind), and communications.

Whether you’re an entrepreneur, student, government official, or NGO worker, this course will equip you with the tools you need to scale your climate initiatives and contribute to a sustainable future.

What You Will Learn
The e-course focuses on building capacity in the following areas to support your climate-related projects:

  • Leadership: Learn effective leadership styles for driving climate action.
  • Project Management: Master the skills needed to manage and execute impactful projects.
  • Resource Mobilization: Understand how to secure funding and other resources for your initiatives.
  • Leave No One Behind: Ensure your projects are inclusive and gender-responsive.
  • Communications: Develop a strategy for promoting your climate-friendly initiatives.

Upon completing the course, you will be able to:

  • Create an inclusive climate action project that aligns with global climate goals.
  • Develop a communications plan to promote your climate initiatives.
  • Identify necessary resources for successful implementation.
  • Apply inclusive and gender-sensitive approaches to climate projects.
  • Utilize various leadership styles for effective project management.

Course Structure
The course is self-paced and takes approximately 3 hours to complete. It includes five interactive modules, each focusing on one of the key areas.

  • Module 1: Leadership
  • Module 2: Project Management
  • Module 3: Resource Mobilization
  • Module 4: Leave No One Behind
  • Module 5: Communications

You will also complete a final quiz and submit a project idea to consolidate your learning.

Meet Your Instructors
The course is taught by a diverse group of experts in climate action:

  • Angus Mackay: Leadership expert, Director of UNITAR’s Division for Planet.
  • Cristina Rekakavas: Project management expert, Coordinator of UN CC:Learn.
  • Thanasis Priftis: Resource mobilization expert, Professor at Haute école de gestion.
  • Margaux Granat: Inclusivity and gender equality specialist, Founder of EnGen Collaborative.
  • Dickon Bonvik-Stone: Communications expert, Senior communications manager in climate action.

Certification
Upon completing all five modules and passing the final quiz with a score of 70% or higher, you will receive a certificate of completion. The certificate will be available for download once you’ve met the requirements.
