About the JPO Program

The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) program offers U.S. citizens the opportunity to join the IAEA’s workforce temporarily, providing professional experience in an international setting. JPOs work at either the P-1 or P-2 level under the guidance of a senior team member, gaining experience in either scientific, technical, or administrative fields within the IAEA’s non-Safeguards departments.

Selection Process

Applications for U.S.-sponsored JPOs are reviewed by the IAEA and then forwarded to the U.S. Department of State through the U.S. Mission in Vienna.
