Youth Climate Action Lab: COP 29 Edition – Application Now Open!
The Youth Climate Action Lab: COP 29 Edition, organized by the Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) in partnership with UNICEF, the Movers Programme, and Skill Our Future, invites applications from young climate leaders across the Asia-Pacific region. This initiative aims to equip participants with the necessary tools and resources for meaningful engagement in multilateral climate processes at COP29.
Objectives
The lab will focus on the following key objectives:
- Connect with youth climate leaders from the Asia-Pacific region.
- Enhance understanding of the UNFCCC negotiation process.
- Explore ways for young people to engage in COP processes and negotiations.
- Engage in meaningful discussions with climate advocates and aspiring leaders.
- Bridge the literacy gap while building negotiation and leadership skills to contribute to strategic decision-making.
Program Overview
From October to November 2024, selected participants will engage in a series of capacity-building training sessions covering essential UNFCCC negotiation topics, including climate finance, just transition, adaptation, resilience, and climate justice.
Additionally, YECAP will organize a post-COP29 follow-up event, allowing participants to exchange key experiences, share their learnings with their communities, and maintain their ongoing involvement with YECAP.
