What We Offer
Awarded scholarships provide comprehensive support for your research journey:
- Stipend: €22,000 per annum
- Fee Contribution: Up to €5,750 per annum (including non-EU fees)
- Direct Research Expenses: Up to €3,250 per annum
The total scholarship value can reach up to €31,000 per annum.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for a Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Age: Open to all ages
- Eligibility Quiz: Pass an online eligibility quiz before applying
- University Affiliation: Be linked with an eligible Irish university
- Degree Requirements: Hold a Bachelor’s degree for a Master’s program or a Master’s degree for a PhD program
- English Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in the English language
- Academic References: Provide positive academic references
- Previous Applications: Have not failed twice in previous applications for the same programme
- Results Pending: Students awaiting results may apply with provisional certificates
- Academic Distinction: Hold a first-class or upper-second-class degree
- Previous Scholarship: Have not previously held an Irish Research Council scholarship
- Supervisor: Secure a willing supervisor for research guidance
- Research Topics: Research topics must exclude human modification (except cancer research) and human embryo production.
