2025 RISK Award on Disaster Risk Reduction: Call for Applications
About the Award:
- Topic: “Children and youths as agents of change for DRR”
- Project funding of up to €100,000
- Application deadline: 13 October
- Winners ceremony at the Global Platform for DRR in June 2025, in Geneva
Goals:
- The RISK Award has been set up to help improve risk reduction and disaster management by providing financial support to projects dedicated to these issues.
- The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030) highlights the importance of children and young people in DRR
- Target region: developing and emerging countries in the Global South
Focus of the Award: Children and Youths
- Over 1 billion children affected by disasters since 2000
- Approximately 1 billion children at high risk due to climate impacts
- 2025 RISK Award dedicated to empowering children and youths in disaster risk reduction
Eligibility:
- The project must be non-profit
- The project must include an implementation part (action)
- The risks must be related to climate change and natural hazards.
- Risks due to social turmoil, war, chemical disasters, and/or political crises are not in the scope of the RISK Award.
Evaluation
- We will evaluate the proposals according to 5 indicators: (1) Potential for impact, (2) Equity, (3) Scalability, (4) Viability and Sustainability, (5) Institutional capacity.
- Clearly define your target group and beneficiaries
- Clearly define the outputs, outcomes and impact
- The online sessions are NOT mandatory for the application process.
Dates and Deadlines
- Online Seminars: 24 July & 25 September 2024
- Deadline: 13 October 2024
- Individual notification of application status: 01 April 2025
- Winner announcement: June 2025
