Global Futures Scholarships: Opportunity for International Students at The University of Manchester
The University of Manchester is delighted to offer the Global Futures Scholarships for the 2025 academic year. This initiative provides over 330 scholarships with a combined value exceeding £4.5 million to international students commencing their studies in September 2025. Scholarships are available for both undergraduate and master’s degree programs.
Undergraduate Awards
Overview: The University of Manchester is awarding more than 100 merit-based undergraduate scholarships valued at £24,000 each (£8,000 per year for three years) to international students from select countries.

- Botswana
- Ghana
- Kenya
- Nigeria
- South Africa
- Zimbabwe
Award Details:
- Total Value: £24,000 per scholarship
- Yearly Breakdown: £8,000 per year for three years
- Conditions: Scholarships are conditional upon maintaining an average of 60% each year. The award will be applied as a discount on published overseas tuition fees.
- Qualifications: Scholarships are available to students holding or pursuing one of the following qualifications:
- A-levels
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
- South African Matric (NSC or IEB)
- NCUK International Foundation Year
- Selection Criteria: Awards are based on academic excellence, predicted grades, and the quality of responses in the online application form. The University aims to balance awards by gender, domicile, qualification type, and course of study.
Eligibility:
- Residency: Applicants must be domiciled in one of the eligible countries, having resided predominantly there for the past three years.
- Application Process: The scholarship application form will be made available only after an offer of admission is received. Eligible applicants will receive the form via email starting December 2024.
- Ineligibility: The scholarship is not available for students applying for Medicine (MBChB), Dentistry (BDS), Architecture, or courses with an integrated foundation year. Previous UK study is also a disqualifying factor.
Application Deadlines:
- A-Level, IB, NCUK IFY Students: Apply by 24 April 2025.
- South African NSC/IEB, November Series A-Level Students: Apply by 13 March 2025.
Master’s Awards
Overview: The University of Manchester is offering over 230 merit-based master’s scholarships valued at £15,000 each to international students from selected African countries.

- Botswana
- Egypt
- Ghana
- Kenya
- Nigeria
- South Africa
- Zimbabwe
Award Details:
- Total Value: £15,000 per scholarship
- Conditions: The award is provided as a discount on published overseas tuition fees, based on academic excellence and the quality of responses in the online application form.
Eligibility:
- Residency: Applicants must be domiciled in one of the eligible countries, having resided predominantly there for the last three years.
- Application Process: To be eligible, applicants must hold an unconditional offer for a full-time on-campus master’s program at The University of Manchester. The application form will be sent to eligible offer-holders via email.
- Ineligibility: The scholarship is not available for students pursuing MBA, MPhil, Master of Architecture (MArch), Architecture and Urbanism (MA), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), PGCE, Clinical Medicine, Dentistry degrees, or some Master’s by Research programs. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree obtained outside Africa are also ineligible.
Application Deadline:
- Master’s Applicants: Must hold an unconditional offer and submit the scholarship application form by 24 April 2025.
- Notification Date: Successful applicants will be notified by 30 May 2025.
