The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is excited to announce its sixth IRENA Youth Forum, titled “The New Generation of Decision Makers.” This event will take place from 9 – 13 January 2025 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, alongside the fifteenth session of the IRENA Assembly (11 – 13 January 2025).
What is the IRENA Assembly?
The IRENA Assembly is the Agency’s highest decision-making body, where Heads of State, Ministers, and global stakeholders gather to discuss and advance the global energy transition. The Youth Forum provides a unique opportunity for young leaders to participate in this pivotal event and contribute to shaping the future of renewable energy.
About the IRENA Youth Forum
The 2025 IRENA Youth Forum aims to empower young leaders by strengthening their networks and connecting them with global thought leaders, government representatives, and IRENA experts. The Forum will offer a platform for youth to contribute their perspectives on how to accelerate renewable energy deployment to achieve climate goals and advance sustainable development.
Participants will engage in interactive sessions, including open dialogues and thematic workshops, where they can influence the global energy discourse. The Forum’s activities will include:
- High-Level Plenaries
- Expert Debates & Roundtables
- Workshops and Seminars
- Interactive Activities
- Youth Circles
- High-Level Bilateral Meetings
Who Can Participate?
The IRENA Youth Forum is open to young people aged 16 to 35 from around the world. The event seeks to ensure global and balanced geographical representation, with a strong focus on youth from Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and developing countries.
Up to 35 participants will be selected and fully sponsored, including travel and accommodations.
How to Apply
Interested youth can apply by completing the application form. The deadline for submissions is 24 September 2024 (midnight, Abu Dhabi local time). Participants will be chosen based on their commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives.
