Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to U.S. Citizens: Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or those owing allegiance to the U.S.
- For Current Undergraduates: Eligible students must be enrolled in an undergraduate program, maintaining a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
- Financial Need: Demonstration of financial need is required through the Student Aid Index on the FAFSA or a Statement of Financial Need.
- Rising Sophomores/Juniors: Applicants should be sophomores or juniors at the time of application, ensuring they will be continuing their education through spring 2026.
- Security Clearance: Participants must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
Program Structure:
- First Summer (2025): A 10-week internship in Washington, D.C., including three weeks of orientation and seven weeks of policy work at the Department of State.
- Second Summer (2026): A 10-week assignment at a U.S. embassy or consulate overseas.
- Intervening Year: Students must maintain their GPA and take the Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT).
