Apply to Join the Youth Advisory Board at Save the Children UK

Are you passionate about making a difference? Save the Children UK is looking for dynamic young people to join our Youth Advisory Board (YAB). This is your chance to be a youth advisor for the next two years, using your voice to influence and shape our work to create positive change.

What You’ll Do

As a youth advisor, you’ll collaborate with others to shape projects across Save the Children’s initiatives in the UK. Past members have met with politicians, delivered speeches, engaged with media, and even featured in campaign videos. You’ll have multiple ways to share your ideas and impact our work.

Commitment and Meetings

We ask for a two-year commitment. You’ll attend:

  • Monthly virtual meetings: First Wednesday of every month, 5-7pm
  • Three in-person meetings a year: Two one-day meetings in Autumn and Spring, and a two-night residential in Summer. We’ll cover your travel costs and provide any additional support needed.

Who Should Apply?

We’re looking for young people aged 12-16 from diverse backgrounds across the UK, especially those from underrepresented groups, including working-class, LGBTQ+, disabled, people of color, young carers, and refugees. We particularly encourage applications from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Midlands, and North of England.

How to Apply

Click the ‘Apply Now’ button to create an account and answer four short questions. Applications close on Sunday 15th September. Phone and video interviews will be held starting 25th September.

What You’ll Gain

  • Skill-building: Public speaking, writing, networking, and influencing
  • Unique experiences: Opportunities to engage with media, attend high-profile events, and more
  • Support: Regular check-ins with staff and new friendships with fellow advisors
  • Expense coverage: For all in-person meetings and events

Important Information

Please ensure you’re not already a member of a youth board for a large charity, related to a current YAB member, or have close family working at Save the Children.

If selected, you’ll receive communication from youthadvisoryboard@savethechildren.org.uk, so be sure to check your inbox and junk/spam folders.
