The Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program (CADFP) is an esteemed fellowship initiative designed to support educational projects at African higher education institutions. Managed by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and funded by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York (CCNY), the program has awarded 705 fellowships to African-born scholars since its inception in 2013. This initiative underscores CCNY’s unwavering commitment to enhancing higher education in Africa.
The CADFP offers a unique opportunity for African universities in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and member institutions of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) and partner universities with the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) to host African-born scholars currently residing in the United States or Canada. These scholars collaborate on projects that include research, graduate student teaching/mentoring, and curriculum co-development.
How to Apply:
- Hosts: Accredited African universities can submit a project request to host an African-born scholar. You may choose to collaborate with a specific scholar or allow IIE to match your project with a qualified candidate from their roster.
- Scholars: African-born academics living in the United States or Canada can apply to join the Scholar Roster. You may work with a specific host institution or wait for a project that aligns with your expertise.
Application Cycle:
The application period for Project Requests opens on July 15, 2024, and closes on September 18, 2024.
