Call for Expressions of Interest: CLARE in ASEAN
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) are excited to announce a new opportunity for institutions to lead and conduct critical research on urban resilience to climate change within ASEAN member states. This initiative is part of the CLimate Adaptation and REsilience (CLARE) framework research programme, primarily funded by the UK FCDO with additional support from IDRC.
Why This Matters
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and ASEAN have both highlighted the pressing need for immediate action to combat the impacts of climate change, especially in Southeast Asia. This region is facing severe climate-related challenges that threaten its development progress. The CLARE programme aims to address these issues by enhancing urban climate resilience through innovative research and strategic collaboration.
The Opportunity
We are calling for expressions of interest (EoI) from institutions capable of creating and leading a consortium focused on applied research projects in lower-income ASEAN countries eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA). This is an initial step in selecting a partner to spearhead transformative research that promotes sustainable urban resilience in these regions. Collaboration with institutions in higher-income ASEAN countries is also encouraged to broaden the impact.
Who Should Apply
We seek organizations with a proven track record in climate adaptation and resilience research. Applicants must demonstrate their capacity to lead a diverse team and manage comprehensive research projects across multiple Southeast Asian countries. Successful candidates will be invited to submit a detailed proposal in the next phase.
