ORIGIN represents an early career job platform meticulously crafted for recent graduates possessing either technical or administrative diplomas, or bachelor’s or master’s degrees in STEM or administrative domains.

Depending on your qualifications, we offer various categories aligned with different educational backgrounds and levels of expertise.

The ORIGIN Programme:

A pathway designed to nurture the next generation of scientific, technical, and administrative professionals. ORIGIN: Where your career journey commences.

This initiative is dedicated to Early Career Professionals, adhering to specific eligibility criteria for nationals of CERN Member or Associate Member States, who haven’t previously held a similar contract at CERN:

  • For individuals with a general secondary education diploma and up to two years of post-graduation professional experience (applicants with a university degree are ineligible):
    • In technical fields
    • In support services (Finance, HR, International Relations, Legal, etc.)
  • For University Graduates with Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees and no more than 2 years of post-graduation professional experience.

What We Offer:

  • A minimum monthly stipend of approximately 4500 Swiss Francs (net of tax)
  • Coverage under CERN’s comprehensive health scheme (inclusive of yourself, spouse, and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund
  • Subject to individual circumstances: an installation grant, family, child, and infant allowances, as well as travel expenses to and from Geneva
  • 30 days of paid leave annually
  • On-the-job and formal training opportunities
  • Employment contracts ranging from 6 to 24 months (standard), extendable up to 36 months
  • Base location: CERN, Geneva, Switzerland – where quality of life surpasses comparison.
