National Essay Writing Competition: Strengthening Rule of Law and Human Rights in Ethiopia

Attention all Ethiopian undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students! Here’s an exciting opportunity to showcase your critical thinking and scholarly skills. The Ethiopian Law Schools Association (ELSA) and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Office Ethiopia/African Union are thrilled to announce a National Essay Writing Competition on the theme “The Role of Academia in Upholding the Rule of Law and Human Rights in Ethiopia.”

About the Competition: This competition aims to spark critical thinking and scholarly discourse on how academia can play a crucial role in promoting the rule of law and safeguarding human rights in Ethiopia. We invite passionate students studying law, political science, philosophy, or related social sciences to share their insights and perspectives through compelling essays.

Theme: “The Role of Academia in Upholding the Rule of Law and Human Rights in Ethiopia.”

Key Details:

  • Essay Length: Maximum 3000 words
  • Formatting: Typed in English, 10-15 pages (excluding references), PDF format
  • Referencing Style: Use a dedicated referencing style (e.g., APA, Harvard)
  • Deadline: Submit your essay by April 20, 2024
  • Submission Method: Email your essay to generalm.elsa@yahoo.com and info.ethiopia@kas.de with the subject line “National Essay Competition Submission.”
  • Personal Information: Provide your full name, contact address, phone number, email address, and educational institution/organization details in the email body.
  • Evaluation Criteria: Understanding of the concept, critical analysis, originality of ideas, structure, adherence to guidelines.
  • Selection Procedure: Essays will be evaluated by judges, and the top three essays will receive cash prizes.

Awards:

  • First Place: 30,000 ETB
  • Second Place: 25,000 ETB
  • Third Place: 20,000 ETB

Certificates of Participation: All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Workshop and Presentation: Winning essays will be presented at a workshop on May 15, 2024, providing authors with the opportunity to engage in discussions and contribute to the academic community.
