Introduction

The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Levant regional young talents program is an opportunity to empower, aiming to encourage young women from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, and the Syrian Arab Republic to thrive in the field of science. This initiative recognizes and rewards the exceptional contributions of talented young female researchers in Life Sciences and Physical Sciences, fostering their dedication to scientific excellence.

Endowments and Opportunities

This program awards three endowments of €10,000 each to postdoctoral researchers and three endowments of €6,000 each to PhD students. The recipients can utilize these endowments for scientific missions, training, courses, conferences, software purchase, and publications, enhancing their research endeavors on a regional and international scale.

Eligibility Criteria

Postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, hailing from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, or the Syrian Arab Republic, are eligible to apply. The candidates must demonstrate exceptional academic records, innovative research projects, and a commitment to promoting science among the youth.

Selection Criteria

A distinguished jury evaluates candidates based on academic excellence, research project quality, adherence to ethical standards, innovative approaches, communication skills, and the potential to inspire the next generation of female researchers.

Application Process

Candidates must submit their applications online, including a comprehensive CV, achievement records, copies of degrees, a signed declaration on ethical norms, letters of recommendation, and a proposed budget for the endowment use.

Young Talents Commitment

Recipients commit to pursuing their research work, submitting status reports, and providing financial expenditure statements. They agree not to use the award for laboratory expenses or as a substitute for their salary. Additionally, they play a vital role as ambassadors of the program, participating in related events and activities.

Communication and Recognition

Young talents are expected to mention the program in all relevant communications and agree to be photographed, filmed, and interviewed for non-commercial objectives related to the For Women in Science program.
