About the Scholarship Programme

Courses Offered

Embark on a transformative educational journey with our Master of Science degree courses offered in English for the 2024–25 academic year:

  • Master in Environmental Engineering – Sopron University, Sopron
  • Master in Crop Production Engineering – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent István Campus, Gödöllő
  • Master in Horticultural Engineering – Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Buda Campus, Budapest

Conditions

Enrollment is contingent on meeting the minimum number of students. The scholarship covers:

  • Application and tuition fees throughout the study period, including basic books and notes.
  • Dormitory accommodation.
  • Subsistence costs.
  • Health insurance.

All expenses are generously financed by the Hungarian Government, in accordance with the 2007 Agreement between FAO and Hungary. It’s important to note that the scholarship is designated for student costs only, and family members are not covered under this program.

List of Eligible Countries and Territories

Residents (who must be nationals) of the following countries are eligible to apply: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo1, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, Republic of Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia, Nigeria, North Korea, Palestine, the Philippines, Republic of Cabo Verde, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen.

(References to Kosovo shall be understood in the context of Security Council Resolution 1244, 1999.)

Application and Selection Process

Phase 1:

  • FAO pre-screens candidates and submits applications to the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary.
  • Complete dossiers must be submitted by students, as incomplete files will not be considered.
  • Files without names will not be processed.

Phase 2:

  • Selected candidates may undergo a written or oral English examination as part of the admission procedure.
  • The participating University conducts a further selection process and informs successful candidates.
  • Student selection is solely the responsibility of the Universities, without FAO involvement.
  • The Ministry also notifies selected students.

Selection Criteria: Candidates are evaluated based on:

  • Citizenship and residency in one of the eligible countries.
  • Excellent school achievements.
  • English language proficiency (for courses taught in English).
  • Motivation.
  • Good health.
  • Age (candidates under 30 are preferred).

Deadline

Applications should be submitted via email from January 15 to February 29, 2024.
