Fully-Funded PhD Scholarships at the University of York for UK Candidates from Minority Backgrounds

In a commitment to address systemic inequalities, the University of York’s York Graduate Research School (YGRS) is offering up to six fully-funded PhD scholarships for UK candidates from Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds. This initiative aims to enhance diversity and inclusion within the postgraduate researcher community.

🌟 Scholarship Details:

  • UK (home)-rate tuition fees covered for 3 years.
  • UKRI-aligned stipend for 3.5 years (currently £18,622 per year tax-free in 2023/24).
  • Annual research training support grant (RTSG) budget of either £5k (lab or field-based program) or £2k (non-lab-based program).
  • Coaching, mentoring, and advocacy included.

🌐 Eligibility:

  • Open to UK (home) students.
  • Candidates must self-identify as Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic.
  • Commencing PhD between September 1, 2024, and October 1, 2025 (deferrals not permitted).
  • Part-time study allowed with supervisor and department agreement; not open to Distance Learners.
