The International Law Association (ILA) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for its Scholarship Fund, designed to support graduate and postgraduate students, as well as early career professionals, in attending the 81st Biennial International Law Conference in Athens, Greece, from June 25 to 28, 2024.
About the Scholarship
The ILA Scholarship Fund aims to foster engagement and inclusivity by providing financial assistance to individuals passionate about international law. The scholarship covers various aspects of conference participation, including registration fees, travel costs, accommodation, and subsistence.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates eligible for consideration must meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled in a graduate or postgraduate course focusing on international law or an early career professional in international law (within the first five years of their career).
- Demonstrate a keen interest in international law through academic excellence, intellectual rigor, and a commitment to the field.
- Showcase the potential to contribute to the promotion of international law and enhance participation, particularly in under-represented regions or where the ILA conference is hosted.
- Provide evidence of limited access to alternative funding sources, such as from their home institutions.
- Not have received a previous ILA scholarship.
- Comply with the eligibility criteria outlined in the official application form.
Award Details:
Successful applicants may receive Full Scholarships, intended to contribute towards conference expenses, or Partial Scholarships, as determined by the Selection Committee.
Application Process:
Interested candidates should follow these steps:
- Download and complete the application form available on the ILA website.
- Submit the completed form, along with supporting documentation, to info@ila-hq.org.
- Ensure that applications are received by 15 January 2024 (17:00 Hrs London time).
Selection and Notification:
The Selection Committee will announce their decisions by 4 March 2024. Successful applicants will be notified immediately. The Committee’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
