Overview:
The world needs passionate leaders more than ever, and this academy equips individuals with the skills, connections, and resources to effect positive social impact. Through collaborative, hackathon-style sessions, participants will craft and present innovative solutions to societal challenges.
What to Expect:
- Engaging sessions at the University of Pennsylvania, led by esteemed faculty.
- Earn a certificate from the University of Pennsylvania upon completion.
- Interactive workshops on interviewing, empathy, design thinking, and more.
- Explore Philadelphia’s historical sites and culminate with a Manhattan Boat Cruise.
- Enhance your problem-solving skills and ethical understanding of social impact work. Gain practical tools applicable to various situations and scales of change-making.
Program Details:
- Date: August 13-18, 2024
- Location: Philadelphia and New York City
- Cost: Double room – $3550, Single room – $3850
- Not included: Round-trip flight arrangement, Airport transfers, Visa application and fees (if applicable), Travel/healthcare insurance, Personal incidentals and expenses, Transportation outside the programs.
Scholarships Available:
Receive program fee coverage and a travel stipend by meeting specific criteria:
- Prior participation in the AFS/bp Global STEM program
- First-time attendance at the AFS Youth Assembly
- Age between 18 and 32 at the time of application
- Ability to attend the in-person event in the United States
