Overview
The Public Policy New Voices Program is a groundbreaking initiative forged through collaboration among leading public policy graduate schools, corporate public policy teams, and innovative global strategic advisory firms. The program is dedicated to addressing the systemic challenges faced by early-career, underrepresented people of color in the public policy field. PPNV aims to engage graduate students of color while dismantling the structural barriers that hinder full representation and participation in policy-focused careers.
Cohort 04 Experience
Forty Fellows will be selected to join PPNV’s Cohort 04, embarking on a virtual, year-long fellowship comprising 18 sessions. This transformative experience is designed to:
- Provide Building Block Skills: Equip fellows with essential skills to navigate and excel in the field of public policy.
- Build Networks and Industry Exposure: Foster a supportive network and industry exposure for fellows, maximizing opportunities during and after the program.
- Facilitate Intra-Cohort Community: Establish a strong sense of community within the cohort, enhancing the active-fellow experience and fostering long-term alumni engagement.
Structure
The PPNV 2024 Fellowship structure includes:
- Group Leads: Five fellows will serve as Group Leads, managing and tracking group engagement, co-leading Cohort Connect sessions, and acting as the primary liaison between their group and the Global Program Lead, Caroline.
- Calendar: Monthly thematic sessions and bi-monthly community-building sessions are carefully scheduled to accommodate diverse time zones and ensure widespread participation.
Eligibility
The fellowship is open to public policy graduate students who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) and are U.S. citizens, U.S. residents, or DACA recipients. This encompasses a broad range of backgrounds, including Black students from the African diaspora, students with tribal citizenship, Latino/Latina students, and students of Asian American and Pacific Islander descent.
Application Requirements
To be considered for the PPNV Fellowship, applicants must commit to:
- Actively participating in at least 80% of fellowship sessions.
- Demonstrating solution-oriented, forward-thinking, and self-aware qualities while exploring public policy careers across sectors.
- Producing a reflective paper at the end of the Fellowship.
- Modeling commitment to community-building, racial diversity, and inclusion.
- Sharing demographic information for tracking long-term progress.
Upon completion, participants will submit a reflection paper to inform the program’s evolution and maintain its responsiveness to the needs and interests of Fellows over time.

Selected applicants will be invited for virtual interviews on a rolling basis within three weeks of submitting their application. The application window closes on January 5, 2024, at 11:59 PM ET or when all 40 Fellow spots have been filled—whichever comes first.
