The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Sciences Po offers a transformative opportunity for talented students from Sub-Saharan Africa to pursue a Master’s degree programmes . This program is designed to provide financial support throughout the two years of study, enabling Scholars to engage fully in their academic journey and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Overview of the Program

As a Mastercard Foundation Scholar, you will have the opportunity to apply to any of the Master’s degree programs offered at Sciences Po’s seven Graduate Schools. The program aims to support students who are committed to creating positive change in Africa, particularly in the areas of public policy and societal transitions.

To be eligible for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Applying for the Program

To be selected for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, you must first be accepted onto a Master’s programme at one of Sciences Po’s seven Graduate Schools.

From September 2024, applications for Sciences Po Master’s programmes and for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program will be handled through a single procedure and platform. You will need to apply for your chosen Master’s programme and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program via the international graduate admissions procedure.

Application Process

To apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, candidates must first gain acceptance to a Master’s program at one of Sciences Po’s Graduate Schools.

Key Steps in the Application Process:

  1. Combined Application: Starting September 2024, applications for Master’s programs and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program will be handled through a single online procedure.
  2. Application Fee Waiver: Eligible applicants will be exempt from paying the Sciences Po application fee and may submit their applications for free.
  3. Evaluation Process: The application will be assessed through the international graduate admissions procedure. If accepted into a Master’s program, the scholarship application will then be evaluated based on the Program’s criteria.

Scholarship Selection

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Selection Committee will review applications and may invite selected applicants for a remote interview. Scholarship recipients will be informed of their award decision and must review and accept the terms outlined in their award letter.

Support for New Scholars

Once accepted, Scholars receive financial support for the entire duration of their Master’s program at Sciences Po. The program offers various forms of assistance to ensure a smooth transition into university life.
